Still away - quick update
A quick pictorial post for the weekend.
I’ve been at Baralaba (in central Queensland) for the last week helping out with the grand boys! The first couple of days we were here I tidied out the wicking beds (that no longer wick) and we planted corn seeds. Seeds that I saved myself from sweet corn that my friend, Serge has been saving seed from for many years.
It took less than a week for the corn to grow!
I’ve been bus cooking here, but not taking many photos! Meal times get hectic with toddlers!
Banana cake made with home grown bananas.
Bunya nut pancakes with bananas cream and honey/butter sauce.
Braised bok choy - I’ve never cooked it in any way I’m happy with before and this will be the only way I’ll ever cook it again! Onion and garlic slowly cooked in butter and olive oil, added the chopped hard stalks and cooked slowly until it was soft - adding some tamari and sesame oil and then last minute added the chopped green bits. Yum!!
Before I left home:
porridge bread following Emily’s recipe which I’ll have to share in the comments because I can’t work out how to do it from here!!
Bunya nut pastry rustic pie. Filling was rosella and apple.
rosellas from my garden. They’re slow to start!
I pressed my grapes before I left and this is how much wine I made. I’m hoping that the 5 litres will be good wine, maybe what’s left will be vinegar! We’ll see…. I’ll check it when I get home to make sure there’s still water in the airlock!!!
We’ll know in 6 months if I y have something drinkable.
Hope your wee has been going well. I’ll be home before I post again.

Sorry about the typos! I was doing it while drinking coffee and trying to stop two boys from fighting and spilling my coffee!! I’m not really asking about your wee!!!
I love porridge bread. And those rosellas are pretty!
